Investing.com - Germany stocks were lower after Friday's close, as losses in basic resources, insurance and transport and logistics sectors, led by lower shares.
At the close of Frankfurt, the DAX fell 2.52%, while the MDAX index lost 2.36% and the TecDAX index lost 2.23%.
The most effective measures of the session in the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE: ADSGN), which fell 0.450 points or 0.38% to trade at 118,950 at the close. Meanwhile, O.N. Merck KGaA (DE: MRK) fell 1.29% or 1,160 points to close at 89,050 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE: DTEGn) fell 1.47% or 0.220 points to 14,730 in afternoon trading.
The worst results of the session were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE: lhag), which fell 0.670 points or 5.58% to trade at 11,330 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE: TKAG) decreased 5.54% or 1,080 points to close at 18,405 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE: DBKGn) fell 4.72% or 0.695 points to 14.035.
The top performers in the MDAX were Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (DE: RHKG), which fell 0.38% to 26,135, Deutsche Euroshop AG O.N. (DE: DEQGn), which fell 0.62% to settle at 42,255 and Covestro AG (DE: 1COV), which lost 0.67% to close at 39,480.
The worst results were Aurubis AG (DE: NAFG), which fell 5.41% to 43,370 in afternoon trading, Fraport AG (DE: FRAG), which lost 4.62% to settle at 47,965 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE: SZGG), which fell 4.32% to 27,270 at the close.
The top performers in Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology TecDAX were O.N. (DE: PV), which rose 0.71% to 86,340, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE: SBSG), which fell 0.41% to settle at 50,600 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE: AFXG), who loses a 0, 99% to close at 33,875.
The worst results were Cancom SE O.N. (DE: COKG), which fell 5.35% to 49,210 in afternoon trading, Evotec AG O.N. (DE: EVTG), which lost 5.24% to settle at 3,746 and MorphoSys AG O.N. (DE: MORG), which fell 4.92% to 44,465 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 737 to 137 and 21 ended unchanged.
Shares of Fraport AG (DE: FRAG) fell to 52-week lows; to 4.62% or 2.325 to 47.965.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of the DAX options, rose 13.54% to 25.57 new 3-month high.
Gold for August delivery rose 0.11% or 1.35 to $ 1,274.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.27% or 1.15 to hit $ 49.41 per barrel, while Brent oil contract for August fell 2.18% or 1 13 to trade at $ 50.82 a barrel.
The EUR / USD down 0.32% to 1.1282, while EUR / GBP up 0.49% to 0.7868.
The US Dollar Index 0.34% rose to 94.42.
